After staking, we walked around the site along the pathways and sat in the seating areas to know what the space would feel like. We allowed the main pathway to the picture platform to remain ADA accessible while adjusting the secondary path to allow more space fore plant beds that will soften the experience of the space.
Then we removed all the organic material from the site so that we could expose the true grade that we're dealing with. This allowed us to know where it was necessary to cut and fill soil in order to achieve a level and stable surface for capturing photos and enjoying the view. We've made great strides preparing the site for construction. We've installed stone edging, weeded Oxalis pes-caprae, planted radishes to aerate heavily compacted soil, and staked out the plan.
Next, we are planning to buy materials at American Soil & Stone to be installed soon! Only two months until the Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning graduation ceremony, when our project will be used as a picture taking spot! A big thank you to all the Landscape Architecture 121 students who have volunteered to help with the construction of the different project elements.
The project is currently being prepared for construction. |
